What split tunneling actually is

An ordinary VPN pushes every last byte into the tunnel. Because of that a Russian bank sees a sign-in from the Netherlands and asks for confirmation — or blocks the operation outright. Marketplaces show the wrong city, delivery services cannot find your address, and a government portal may refuse to let you in at all. Split tunneling fixes this at the routing level: the addresses of Russian services are marked as direct and never enter the tunnel.

What it changes in practice
