Why a TV needs its own VPN

The television is the one device at home where a VPN is needed all the time and is hardest to set up. Streaming services decide which country you are in by the TV's address, not your phone's: a service that works fine on the smartphone can still show a stub on the big screen. A VPN running on the TV itself settles this once and for all — and every other device in the house keeps working as usual.

Which televisions are supported

Any TV or box on Android TV and Google TV — Xiaomi Mi Box, Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV, televisions from Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense and Realme. Apple TV is supported out of the box on tvOS 17 and newer. Samsung sets on Tizen and LG sets on webOS have no VPN apps of their own — for those, the VPN goes on the router or on a box plugged into HDMI.

Is there enough speed for 4K

Yes. We keep speeds up to 1 Gbps, while 4K video needs around 25 Mbps — more than a fortyfold margin. Traffic is unlimited, so you can watch whole seasons in a row: no counter runs out mid-episode. If the picture still stutters, switch countries — the app has an “Auto” mode that picks the server with the shortest response time.
